Goodreads Beautiful Malice: A Novel by Rebecca James - Reviews, Discussion, Bookclubs, Lists:
Amazing. Different. So freakin good.
Katherine is a teenager who's been through a horrible tragedy. Her sister was killed and now her and her parents lives are changed forever. They just don't realize how much. After moving to a new city with a new name, Katherine is flattered when the popular girl, Alice, befriends her. She doesn't care at first about Alice's odd behavior or her treatment of her apparent boyfriend, Robbie. But overtime- too long if you ask me- Katherine is finally happy and content with her life, and she sees how damaged Alice really is.
I was hooked from the first line. The best and the worst part was that you know what's going to happen. It just makes it more heartbreaking.
I loved this book but a few things did bother me: it took Katherine way too long to get rid of Alice. I know how she became friends with her but not exactly why she stayed and kept forgiving her. I know I'm not that forgiving. Also, the sequence of the story, the past and present, is a little disconcerting at times buti handled it. The obvious problem I had with it was the spelling/grammar mistakes. I had an advanced copy so I really hope the author doesn't change anything in the story because I won't be able to read it again.
