From Goodreads: Restless souls and empty hearts
Brooklyn can't sleep. Her boyfriend, Lucca, died only a year ago, and now her friend Gabe has just died of an overdose. Every time she closes her eyes, Gabe's ghost is there waiting for her. She has no idea what he wants or why it isn't Lucca visiting her dreams.
Nico can't stop. He's always running, trying to escape the pain of losing his brother, Lucca. But when Lucca's ghost begins leaving messages, telling Nico to help Brooklyn, emotions come crashing to the surface.
As the nightmares escalate and the messages become relentless, Nico reaches out to Brooklyn. But neither of them can admit that they're being haunted. Until they learn to let each other in, not one soul will be able to rest.

My blog should be named The girl who loves sad, emotional books! because they really are my cup of tea. Most people who've heard about this book have read Lisa Schroeder's companion-like book, which is on the same topic: loved ones dying. I'm a very sensitive person so I cried at least 3 times while reading and just thinking about this book. But don't let that turn you off! It's not just a book about the sadness of dying but also dealing with death and finding happiness.
This story was so sad and heartbreaking. I cannot imagine what any of these characters went through when Lucca died. I found it hard to relate to the characters only because I haven't experienced death when the person was someone I was truly close to. I did, though, understand the feelings of the characters. I think I like novels written in verse better than the normal, story writing because they somehow evooke more emotion, Saying that, Lisa's writng was so wonderful and I cannot wait to read her other books!
Lisa S has became a new favourite author. My favourite is I heart you, You haunt me and the other great also. I look forward to reading this one next year and she has a new one releasing, yaaaay.
ReplyDeleteSo far she is by far the best at Verse Novels in my opinion.
Great review! I'll have to get this one. I read I Heart You, You Haunt Me and liked it.
